above left, right and center: John Wise's model of part of a sawmill  complex in Spanaway, WA located near where John lives. The model is entirely scratch built and consists of the chip bin and the building housing the barker. He did a nice job of capturing the flavor of the buildings, including the ladders with safety cages and the catwalks.

above left, right and center: The winning entry of Bill Messecar's built up Fine Scale Miniatures model of the typical East Coast combination lumber/coal yard from the mid 1900's. He did a beautiful job weathering the buildings and added many details in addition to those supplied with the kit.
